Hebrews 4:9-10

Hebrews 4:9-10

There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.

Hebrews 4:9-10

When the pressures of life just seem to be piling on, have you ever said to yourself, “I just need a rest.” We just need a day off. Our rest today is not found in a day but in a Person. God rests in Christ’s finished work and so does the believer. The same kind of rest God entered into when He finished creation remains for us. God created everything in six days for us to enjoy during His Sabbath rest. And He’s done everything for us to experience rest today – He sent His Son to accomplish the work of salvation, and He sent His Spirit to give us the means to take Him at His Word.

So then, there are two extremes that stand in the way of us finding and walking in this REST. Panic – which says, “We’re NOT going to make it! This situation is too big even for God to handle.” Pride – which says, “I can handle my problems on my own. I actually don’t need God’s help. I don’t need His rest.”

So, what do we need to do? Spend time with Him and His Word and we’ll replace panic and pride with peace and rest.

I’m busy resting,
