Psalm 22:9

Psalm 22:9

He who has a generous eye will be blessed, For he gives of his bread to the poor.
Psalm 22:9

Even those who have only taken a casual glance at Scripture will quickly come to see that the truths explained in Scripture clash with this world’s system. Jesus said, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses” (Luke 12:15).

The world says that happiness is found in the accumulation of possessions, the Bible teaches that true joy comes in the surrendering of all that one has. There is a blessing upon the life of the one who has found the blessedness in possessing nothing.

This perspective is only found when we understand that all that we have is a gift from God. The Lord desires to bless us so, in turn, we can be a blessing to others. As our text of consideration states, “He who has a generous eye will be blessed, For he gives of his bread to the poor.” In this, we find one of the greatest truths in Scripture. The God of the universe created us for a purpose. He has placed a specific calling upon every person’s life.

True blessing is found in being a blessing to others. In giving ourselves over to the Lord, so He can use our lives. I encourage you today to live with purpose; don’t allow your possessions to possess you. The Bible teaches us, “There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing; And one who makes himself poor, yet has great riches.” Find true riches. For it truly is more blessed to give than receive (Acts 20:35).
