Psalm 77:16
The waters saw You, O God; the waters saw You, they were afraid; the depths also trembled.
Psalm 77:16
One of the most rewarding things about reading the Psalms is how relatable they are. On one hand, they allow the reader to identify with the writer in their troubled times. And on the other hand, we read how great and faithful God is when we surrender to His will. The honest cries of desperation combined with the rejoicing of His goodness is something that most believers can relate to. We must appreciate honesty in conveying feelings and the ability to put ourselves in the psalmist’s shoes when faced with life’s trials.
The above passage has always served to remind me that God is bigger than any problem we could ever fathom. Even the depths of the sea tremble before our Creator. Matthew chapter 6 reminds us how much more valuable we are than the birds of the air, and certainly we are much more priceless to God than the oceans that roar. Being created in the image of God means we are valuable to Him beyond what we can measure. And becoming born again Christians means that nothing can harm us without His approval and certainly nothing should give us reason to fear while God is before us. He is the Lord our God and He will always fight for us!
