But the chief priests plotted to put Lazarus to death also, because on the account of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus.

John 12:10-11

The Jewish leaders wanted to kill Lazarus. They wanted to kill him because he had been raised from the dead by Jesus, which is pretty bizarre if you really think about it. “We are going to kill you because God has raised you from the dead. We are going to kill you because God has given you life.”   

But you know what? That is the enemy! The enemy is going to attack us and always want to takes us down, because we have been given new life by Jesus. It has been going on from the moment we were born again. As soon as we entered into the kingdom, by putting our faith in Jesus, we’ve been on the enemy’s hit list.  He wants to take us down! If you ever find yourself thinking, ”Why am I under such spiritual attack?  Why am I going through all this warfare?”  It is because the enemy wants to take down all who have life in Jesus. Just like Lazarus.  

So the next time you feel like you are in the middle of a spiritual warfare, you are!   But always remember, “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” I John 4:4.
