Micah 7:18

Who is a God like You, Pardoning iniquity. And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights in mercy. He will again have compassion on us, And will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins Into the depths of the sea.

Our God delights in mercy, is compassionate, and wants to forgive our sins. Sin destroyed our relationship with Him, but He wanted reconciliation and as a result sent Jesus to shed His blood on the cross to cleanse us completely of our sings. Our sins are not just covered like a rug over dust, they are removed completely, as if they are cast into the sea.

Praise God that He delights in mercy and that rather giving us what we deserve (eternal punishment), we can receive what we do not deserve (eternal life) in Christ Jesus.
