Titus 2:1
But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine.
Titus 2:1
Paul was very thorough in his writing and consistent to use words that conveyed God’s Word honestly. The exposition of “sound” doctrine is essential for teaching and spiritual well-being. Paul understood this because so much of what he taught was done in a way that always caused the listener to look to God. That should be our goal as well; to use the gospel to cause others to draw to God. It is only in using proper and sound doctrine that one can fully grasp the infinite wisdom of the scriptures and then effectively convey them.
Teaching anything without context is like reading a manuscript in another language and not having any idea what it says. Becoming in tune with the heart of God on the other hand, will help us declare His glory and His word in the correct sense. Additionally, the wisdom that comes from drawing nearer to the heart of God will cause us to be sensitive to His prompting, thus causing us to speak sound and correct doctrine. One cannot speak properly of God without prayer, devotion, meditation, and understanding of who He is and what He requires. Let us choose our words carefully, prayerfully, and speak of our Savior with the things proper for sound doctrine.
God Bless,
