James 1:2-3

James 1:2-3

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.

James 1:2-3

I don’t know about you, but I just love it when I go through extremely hard times and when life throws me curve balls that I cannot dodge. Of course, I’m kidding. I, like most people, do not look forward to difficult circumstances and although I know God is working through them, they still seem very uncomfortable in the moment. However, if we stop to consider the verbiage used in James 1:2-3, we find the word “count” calling out to us. Because words have meaning attached to them, we must understand them.

To “count” it all joy can be read as “consider” it all joy. Meaning we must consider why God is allowing us to go through trials instead of focusing on the trial itself. To consider means we must ponder in our hearts what we must learn. Whether it is a moment to humble us or teach us to lean on God and His provision, or to merely test and strengthen our faith, we must consider God’s purpose.

Remember God never allows us to experience pain or suffering for no reason. So, consider in the moment of trials what God must show you. Go to Him in prayer and meditation before trials, during trials, and after the affliction ends. Where you are in Christ is where you are for a reason.

God Bless,

Pastor Paul Provencio
