Nehemiah 1:3-4
And they said to me, “The survivors who are left from the captivity in the province are there in great distress and reproach. The wall of Jerusalem is also broken down, and its gates are burned with fire.” So it was, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven.
Nehemiah 1:3-4
The walls of Jerusalem were broken down and when Nehemiah heard about it, it was heavy on his heart. It touched his heart. You see Nehemiah was interested in others, especially God’s people. He cared about God’s people and what was happening there in Jerusalem.
It was a strange thing for me when God invaded my life over 40 years ago. All of a sudden, I actually cared about others! I cared about their welfare, I cared if they were saved, I cared if God’s best plan was coming about in their lives. When God comes into our lives, all of a sudden life becomes about others. God truly is the Great Heart Surgeon! He replaces our hard selfish hearts and gives us His heart of love. And then, like Nehemiah, He wants to use us!
Has God been calling you? What the Lord puts on my heart may not be the same as He puts on your heart. But what He does do… is that He puts others on our hearts. So, like Nehemiah that day, God is calling you. Yes you! So who has been on your heart lately? Who are those you care about the most?… God is calling you my brothers and sisters.
Walking with a changed heart,
