Romans 13:11, 12 & 14

Romans 13:11, 12 & 14

And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent; the day is at hand. Therefore, let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light… But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

Romans 13:11,12 & 14

We get dressed every morning with physical clothes but how do we clothe our hearts and minds? Pauls’ simple exhortation is to “cast off” and “put on.” This imagery of spiritual preparation echoes Jesus’ teachings about readiness for His return.

Are there areas of darkness you need to “cast off”? This might be negative habits, attitudes, or relationships that dim your spiritual light. Then, consider how you can “put on” Christ more fully. This could mean deepening your prayer life, studying Scripture more intently, or actively serving others.

Remember, our preparation isn’t about fear, but about joyful anticipation of Christ’s return.
