Jude 1:20-21
But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Jude 1:20-21
Jude gives a tall order and encourages believers to keep themselves “in the love of God.” Is that even possible? It helps to know this doesn’t mean earning God’s love, which is freely given, but rather remaining aware of and responsive to it. In times of trouble or spiritual dryness, we have a tendency to drift from the assurance of God’s love.
So, what are some specific ways God has shown His love to you. Meditate on them, write them down if it helps. Then put feet on your faith and consider how you can actively “keep yourself” in that love – through worship, gratitude, obedience, or acts of service. Maybe just a quiet afternoon with just you and the Lord. Let that time of basking in His love be your anchor in uncertain times.
