Matthew 9:36-38

Matthew 9:36-38

But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

Matthew 9:36-38

Jesus looked at the crowds and his heart broke because they were harassed and helpless, weary and scattered like sheep without a shepherd. In these verses, we’re reminded that even as we await Christ’s return, we’re called to have compassion on a lost world. Does our heart break for what breaks God’s heart?

Simply ask God to give you His heart for those around you who don’t know Him. I guarantee you; He will answer that prayer. Ask Him for opportunities to show Christ’s love in practical ways. Remember, our watchfulness isn’t meant to make us withdraw from the world, but to engage it with the hope and love of Christ.
