1 Samuel 1:10-11

1 Samuel 1:10-11

And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish. Then she made a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head.”

1 Samuel 1:10-11

Hannah’s story reminds us of the profound impact of persistent, heartfelt prayer. The story goes on to tell us that the Lord answered Hannah’s request and she gave birth to Samuel, the one who would be the last Judge in Israel and would anoint its first two kings.  Whether you’re praying for a spouse, child, friend, or your own spiritual growth, never underestimate the power of fervent prayer.

It’s always a good practice to evaluate and recommit to our own prayer life. Are there areas where you’ve given up too easily? How can you cultivate Hannah’s persistence and faith in your own prayers? Keep in mind, God hears and values every sincere prayer offered to Him and He delights in our commitment to this precious gift…prayer.
