Daniel 7:13-14
I was watching in the night visions, and behold, One like the Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought Him near before Him. Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, And His kingdom the one which shall not be destroyed.
Daniel 7:13-14
Jesus referred to Himself as the “Son of Man,” a messianic title from Daniel’s prophecy. This title emphasizes both Jesus’ humanity and His divine authority. So what does it means that Jesus—fully God and fully man—has “power on earth to forgive sins.” Simply this, if our sins are going to be forgiven, it must be while we’re here on earth. Your sins can only be dealt with while you’re living here on this earth.
Jesus’ incarnation makes Him uniquely able to understand and address our human struggles because He lived it and yet was without sin. Where are the lines of Christ’s present power and authority in your life? Are there areas where you need to submit more fully to His Lordship? We can be thankful for Jesus’ willingness to enter our world and experience our humanity. Ask Him to help you live in the reality of His power and presence in your daily life, trusting in His authority over every circumstance you face.
