Luke 21:34, 36
But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly… Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.
Luke 21:34, 36
In a world filled with distractions and uncertainties, Jesus calls us to “take heed” to ourselves. This isn’t just casual advice – it’s a command for our spiritual survival. As we navigate through challenging times, we must guard our hearts against being weighed down by worldly indulgences or anxieties. So, what should we do instead? We should cultivate a spirit of watchfulness and prayer.
What might have pulled you away, causing you to become spiritually dull or burdened? The best thing to do is realign our focus on Christ and His imminent return. Always remembering that our goal is not just to survive these days, but to be found worthy to stand before the Son of Man. Let this motivate you to live with purpose and expectancy. The Christian is only truly watchful when they are prayerful. So as usual, pray, pray, pray!
