Matthew 9:36-38
But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
Matthew 9:36-38
As we witness the turmoil in our world, it’s easy to become cynical or judgmental. Yet Jesus looked at the crowds with compassion, seeing them as sheep without a shepherd. This should be our perspective too. In times of social unrest and global uncertainty, how can we cultivate Christ’s heart of compassion?
Start by looking around to those closest to you and pray for those who seem lost or misguided in their actions. Ask God to give you His eyes to see beyond behavior to the heart’s need. Then become part of the solution and consider how you might be a source of hope and guidance to someone who is struggling. Remember, we were once lost too, but Christ’s compassion reached out to us.
