Jude 1:20-23
But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. And on some have compassion, making a distinction; but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.
Jude 1:20-23
Jude’s powerful exhortation provides a roadmap for navigating difficult days. We’re called to build ourselves up in faith, pray in the Holy Spirit, and keep ourselves in God’s love. It may seem like everything is out of control, but God is still in control. It may seem like everything is falling out of place, but for those of you who know your Bibles, you begin to realize that everything is actually falling into place.
But the real question is, what does it means to keep yourself in God’s love? How can you remind yourself of His unchanging affection for you? Perhaps it’s meditating on a specific promise in Scripture or recalling times when you’ve experienced His faithfulness. As you do this, let it fuel your compassion for others, even as you stand firm against falsehood.
Because ultimately, we can rest in the assurance that God is able to keep you from stumbling and present you faultless before His presence with exceeding joy. (Jude 1:24-25) This is the hope that sustains us in every season.
