1 Peter 5:12b
I have written to you briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which you stand.
1 Peter 5:12b
Peter closes this epistle by exhorting the church to be humble in verses 5 through 7, to be watchful in verses 8 through 9, and to be hopeful in verses 10 through 14.
Peter’s final exhortation is to stand firm in the true grace of God. This grace is not just for our salvation, but for our daily living and growth in Christ. We need to show the world what it looks like to walk in grace; to exhibit the unmerited favor we have gained from the Father through the finished work of the Son.
As we conclude this week’s devotions, take a moment to reflect on God’s grace in your life. What does it really mean to you? How has His unmerited favor sustained you, especially in difficult times? Are there still areas where you might be trying to earn God’s love or forgiveness instead of resting in His grace. Commit to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18). Let God’s grace be the foundation for your faith, your relationships, and your service. Stand firm in this grace, knowing that it is sufficient for all your needs and the source of your eternal hope in Christ.
