Galatians 2:19-20

Galatians 2:19-20

For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

Galatians 2:19-20

Any of us can get caught up into legalism, it’s part of our fallen human nature. Paul’s words to the Galatians echo Jesus’ teaching about new wine in old wineskins. We cannot add the law to grace – they are simply as incompatible as oil and water. Salvation comes through faith in Christ alone, not by our own efforts or adherence to religious rules.

Today, take the opportunity to examine your heart. Are there areas where you’re trying to earn God’s favor through your own efforts? Remember, God loves you because He loves you, not because of anything you’ve done. Rest in the freedom of His grace today, and let that motivate your actions rather than a sense of obligation. We love Him because He loved us first.
