Matthew 28:18-20
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Matthew 28:18-20
What does it mean to have authority? And when it’s given, what is the best way to exercise it? Jesus gave His disciples authority to preach, heal, and cast out demons. This same authority is available to believers today through the Great Commission. However, walking in this authority requires faith and obedience.
Are there areas where you feel powerless in your spiritual life? You can’t even imagine sharing the simple truths of the Gospel with an acquaintance let alone a total stranger. How might embracing the authority Christ has given you change your approach to these challenges? Ask God to help you walk confidently in the authority He’s provided, always in submission to His will. As the Bible says, “Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.” (Psalm 81:10)
