2 Peter 1:5-8
But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 1:5-8
How would you evaluate your walk of faith? Is it doing okay or does it need work? Peter’s exhortation to “add to your faith” various virtues reminds us that spiritual growth is an active, ongoing process. Faith is the foundation, but we are called to build upon it. And in doing so we strengthen our walk with the Lord.
So as you take inventory of your spiritual life, which of these qualities – virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, or love – do you feel you need to develop more? Don’t try to do it on your own but ask God to help you grow in these areas and let Him show you some practical steps you can take to nurture these qualities in your daily life.
