2 Peter 1:13-15

2 Peter 1:13-15

Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you, knowing that shortly I must put of my tent, just as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me. Moreover, I will be careful to ensure that you always have a reminder of these things after my decease.

2 Peter 1:13-15

Peter considered his body no more than a tent. And a tent is not a permanent dwelling place. But Peter’s awareness of his impending death didn’t lead him to despair, but to a renewed focus on what truly matters – the eternal Word of God. Peter wanted his readers to be churning with the Word of Truth long after he was gone.

This perspective challenges us to consider how we’re living in light of eternity.  Are we investing our time and energy in things that will last? Do we keep in perspective the temporary nature of earthly life and the permanence of God’s Word and promises? How might this eternal perspective change your priorities or decisions today?
