2 Peter 2:1-3

2 Peter 2:1-3

But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time, their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.

2 Peter 2:1-3

It’s almost as if Peter stuck his face into the future and observed our present age. Our world is filled with conflicting voices and ideologies, so discerning truth becomes paramount for believers. Peter warns us about false teachers who secretly introduce destructive heresies. We see those heresies all around us.

To stand for truth we’ll need to sharpen our spiritual discernment. The only way to do that is to be grounded in God’s Word enough to recognize subtle deceptions. Remember Jesus’ words in John 14:6 that He is the way, the truth, and the life. Pray for wisdom to recognize truth and for courage to stand firm in it, even when the majority follows a different path.
