2 Peter 2:1-3

2 Peter 2:1-3

But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.

2 Peter 2:1-3

If these verses don’t accurately describe our culture and society today, I don’t know what will. We are more divided that ever and it seems that many, including family members, are buying into these deceptions. In a world filled with conflicting voices and teachings, discernment is crucial for our spiritual journey.

But how can we cultivate spiritual discernment? We need to be saturated by the truth of God’s Word. In it, you will gain the wisdom to recognize truth from falsehood. Consider the “fruit” of various influences in your life – do they lead you closer to Christ or away from Him? Keep in mind that true spiritual nourishment always aligns with God’s Word and character. Pray for a heart that’s sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s guidance as you navigate the complexities of faith in today’s world.
