1 John 1:5-7

1 John 1:5-7

This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

1 John 1:5-7

These verses highlight the importance of fellowship with God and other believers. We can see from John’s description what true fellowship looks like. It’s a simple matter of light and dark. It’s good to remember that light invades darkness, not the other way around. The way to get rid of darkness is to turn on the light. To go back to darkness, you have to turn off the light.

So how does this translate into your relationships with other Christians? How freeing is it to know that our true fellowship with one another is proof of our cleansing and forgiveness? Ask God to reveal any areas where you need to grow in fellowship, both with Him and with your brothers and sisters in Christ.
