1 Kings 19:11-12

1 Kings 19:11-12

Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.

1 Kings 19:11-12

After the dramatic showdown on Mount Carmel, God spoke to Elijah not in the wind, earthquake, or fire, but in a gentle whisper. Often, we expect God to move in big, obvious ways, but He frequently works in the quiet moments of our lives. The strength of our life will be the ability to hear the still, small voice of God.

It would be wise to intentionally create some silent space in your day. Turn off all distractions and simply be still before God. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you in the quietness. Cultivating the ability to hear God’s “still, small voice” is crucial for navigating the challenges of our times. So, let this practice of stillness become a regular part of your spiritual rhythm.
