1 John 3:16-18
By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
1 John 3:16-18
“We know that we have passed from death to life because we love the brethren.” (1 John 3:14a) What powerful assurance! Your ability to love—especially when it’s difficult—is evidence of God’s transforming work in your life. This isn’t mere sentiment or empty words; it’s love demonstrated through action. James echoes this truth: faith without works is dead. When you see a brother or sister in need and respond with practical help, you’re displaying the very heart of God. Don’t just talk about love—walk it out.
Look for opportunities today to lay down your life for others in small, tangible ways. Perhaps it’s giving your time, sharing your resources, or simply offering encouragement. These daily acts of sacrificial love will add up to a life well-lived for Christ.
