Isaiah 41:10

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

Jabez knew he couldn’t accomplish God’s purposes in his own strength. “That Your hand would be with me”—this is a prayer of dependency. God’s hand represents His power, presence, protection, and provision.

The final petition—”keep me from evil”—acknowledges we live in a fallen world under the influence of the evil one. But God is faithful to guard us. We need His hand to guide us through temptation, shield us from harm, and empower us for the work He’s called us to.

The beautiful conclusion: “God granted him what he requested.” When we pray according to God’s will—for His blessing, expanded kingdom influence, His presence, and protection from evil—we can pray with confidence that He hears and answers.

Pray Jabez’s prayer for yourself today: “Lord, bless me indeed, enlarge my territory, let Your hand be upon me, and keep me from evil.”
