Colossians 2:13-14
And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
Colossians 2:13-14
The religious leaders in Mark’s account of the healing of the paralytic were astonished at Jesus’ claim to forgive sins—something only God can do. Today’s passage affirms Christ’s divine authority to forgive, having canceled our debt through His work on the cross. Forgiveness is the greatest miracle that Jesus ever performed. It meets the greatest need. It costs the greatest price. And it brings the greatest blessing ever and the most lasting results.
Take some time today to meditate on the profound implications of this truth. All your sins—past, present, and future—can be forgiven through Christ. No sin is too great for His mercy. How does this reality change your perspective on your own struggles with sin? On God’s love for you? We can all be thankful for this. If you’re carrying guilt or shame, bring it to Him now, accepting His full forgiveness. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you live in the freedom Christ has secured for you.
