Colossians 3:23

And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.

I remember watching an old TV show in which one character told another the reason her life was so humdrum was because she approached every day the same. She had no enthusiasm for what she was doing. 

It reminded me of the scripture above which tells us to do everything heartily as to the Lord, not to men. If we are serving men and not the Lord, it’s hard for us to keep our energy up. We get run down and wonder if what we’re doing has any real purpose. Our purpose should be to please God in everything we do. If we remember that, we’ll wake up with a bounce in our step, looking forward to what the Lord will do that day.
