Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, 12
Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion… Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, 12
God’s design for marriage reflects His desire for unity and mutual support. Just as He promises to dwell with us, we are called to dwell intentionally with our spouses. When God said “the two shall become one” He took the ‘me’ out of life and turned it into ‘we’. In any situation a husband and wife should always ask, “How will this affect ‘us’, and what should ‘we’ do about it. Our primary role as spouses is to help each other get to heaven.
So how can we be more present in our relationships. Are we fully engaged, or merely occupying the same space? Consider how your presence (or lack thereof) impacts your spouse. Pray for God’s guidance in creating a home atmosphere that reflects His constant, nurturing presence, because His promise is that when we do this, He will wrap Himself around us like a three stranded cord.
