Exodus 2: 23-25

Exodus 2: 23-25

Now it happened in the process of time that the king of Egypt died. Then the children of Israel groaned because of the bondage, and they cried out; and their cry came up to God because of the bondage.  So God heard their groaning, and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.  And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God acknowledged them.

Exodus 2: 23-25

We tend to accuse God of not hearing our prayers. Here the children of Israel were being oppressed in the land of Egypt. They felt abandoned and yet God had His attention towards them. God was working in the midst of their suffering. He heard their cries, their groans, remembered His covenant with them, and acknowledged them.

We can take comfort in the faithfulness of the God we serve that He looks down on us, hears our prayers, and is working even in the midst of suffering. We can trust that although not everything that we experience in this life is good, He makes it all work for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose. May we continue to pray, lifting up our petitions to our God and wait on His timing to see all that He is and will do.
