Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, and take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh.
God is speaking through Ezekiel here to the people of Isreal about how He will restore them after they go into captivity. They had been chasing after idols and everything else but God. Their hearts as a nation were hardened towards God.
And even though God was using their captivity in Babylon to chastise them, He still cared for them deeply and wanted to change them. He tells them one day he is going to bring them back out of captivity and restore them. He wants to take away their hard hearts and give new hearts that love Him.
This is always God’s heart towards His people. He wants to restore them and bring them to a place of loving Him. No one is too far from God that He cannot reach. No one is ever written off for the things they have done. God’s heart is always for restoration.
