Galatians 5:16, 22-25

Galatians 5:16, 22-25

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh…

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Galatians 5:16, 22-25

The good soil in Jesus’ parable produces a bountiful harvest. Paul helps us realize how we can be that “good soil” by describing the fruit of the Spirit that should characterize our lives. Go through Paul’s check list – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control – and honestly confront how evident they are in your life.

Which do you see growing? Which need more cultivation? Ask the Holy Spirit to continue His work in you, making you increasingly fruitful for God’s kingdom. Remember, this fruit isn’t produced by your own effort, but by abiding in Christ and allowing His Spirit to work through you. Then you too can yield 30, 60, or 100-fold of fruitfulness in your life.
