Galatians 6:4
But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.
Galatians 6:4
From the time we were kids in school, we have been conditioned to compare ourselves with others. If we got the best grade on a school paper, we might have been given a gold star to put on our forehead. Or maybe if we won a race, we received the blue ribbon to pin on our shirt. But here Paul encourages us not to be comparing ourselves with others, but rather to examine our own work. We should make sure we are following the Lord’s call on our own lives.
I am not called to live your life and you were not called to live mine. We all have a unique work and calling that the Lord has planned for us. A friend of mine calls it her “Godly Assignment.” And if we are faithful in doing our assignment, we can rejoice knowing that the Lord is pleased. So let’s all examine our own work from time to time.
