Genesis 3:4-5

Genesis 3:4-5

Now the serpent said to the woman, You will surely not die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.
Genesis 3:4-5

A friend once told me, “You know, the devil has no new tricks.” And that is certainly true. Sure, his tactics have evolved since Adam and Eve in the garden, but he always goes after the things we desire the most. He lies to us and tells us that our minds will be opened and our appetites will be satisfied if we just listen to him. Times have changed, but the enemy’s tactics are as stale as ever. For some of us, we can quickly see when an attack is coming on. For the rest of us, we need to remember that he is the father of lies, and deception is his signature.

When temptation comes your way, remember Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians 10:13, “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man, but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” God is always faithful to give aid and escape from the devil’s tricks. Adam and Eve had that same way of escape, but they fell for the lie. Don’t be deceived by the oldest tricks in the book, but rest on what God’s word can do and will do to protect you.

God Bless,
Paul Provencio
