Hebrews 13:5
Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Hebrews 13:5
As I was going through my closet the other day, I found several shirts that I had forgotten I owned. I loved those shirts and yet I had become so obsessed with acquiring newer items that I forgot the treasures that were already in my closet. I also found a few other shirts I hadn’t worn in ages. This led to a scavenger hunt throughout my house going through items, personal effects, and things I thought I needed and things I realized I didn’t. Taking this inventory led me to realize I had a lot and I felt very blessed as well as a little spoiled.
If we were to take inventory of our lives as new creations in Christ, we would see that we have everything we need. He cares for the birds of the air and the hairs on our heads are numbered and known by Him. We are God’s masterpiece, and He is the Great Artist who never misses a brush stroke. In Him, we lack nothing and have only an eternity in His presence to look forward to. The next time you find yourself lacking anything, I would recommend digging deep into God’s Word and seeing all that is granted to us as children of God. Then go through that closet and get rid of those shirts from 1995. I guarantee you won’t need them. But you will always need Him.
God Bless,
