Isaiah 1:18

Isaiah 1:18

“Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.”

Isaiah 1:18

Here we see God’s heart towards those who were living in sin. We see God calling them towards Him and He invites them to go to Him to reason with Him. Today, many think that living a life pursuing the things of God is unreasonable. They question why should they listen to someone else other than their own desires? Why? Because it is a reasonable thing to do. Surrender to the God who calls men to Himself, the God of infinite wisdom, love, grace, forgiveness, and power. He states “let us reason together” showing us how compassionate and long suffering our God is, to the point where He meets us where we are regardless of our doubts, uncertainties, or sins and ministers to us. Scarlet and crimson are deep, bright colors and yet God is able to make them white. He is capable of changing their substance and their appearance.

Though we are stained with guilt, sin, and shame, He takes it all away and makes us clean. He removes our stains and in return makes us pure and righteous because that is what God does. So when we struggle in sin and feel distant to God, let’s remember that He calls us to Himself; to reason with Him, and allow Him to make those changes in us that only He alone can do.
