Isaiah 40:31
But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31
As I look back at my own life, I remember times that I had no strength. I remember feeling weary and that I might faint at any moment. Like most people I looked at my workload, my diet, my exercise routines (or lack of), and I considered all the ways that might be contributing to my lack of energy. If I’m being honest, I would say I jumped into solving my problems based upon things I could see before me. It is usually much later that I realize I should have just paused and talked to God.
The Bible is clear that we are to wait on the Lord as the real solution to most of what ails us. The prophet Isaiah reminds us that all men, young and old, will become weary at some point. But it is God who provides the power, to be dispensed at His disposal. So many of life’s problems could be solved so much quicker if we let God do the solving for us.
That is not to say we just lie on the floor and refuse to move. But we must be moved by Him! Only when we are willing to wait and be still before our King, can we be strengthened and refreshed. As the Psalmist would write, “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently.”
