Isaiah 43:18-19
Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:18-19
God is always doing something new, always seeking to expand our spiritual lives. But like old wineskins, we can become rigid and inflexible, missing out on the fresh work God wants to do. He’s always desiring for us to grow. If your relationship with God is old and stale, it’s not the Spirit of God’s fault. He’s always moving. He’s always active. He’s always seeking to expand the life of the believer.
Today’s passage encourages us not to dwell on the past, but to be alert to the new thing God is doing. What might God be wanting to do in your life that you’ve been resistant to? Are there old patterns or beliefs you need to let go of to embrace God’s new work? Ask God to make you flexible and open to His Spirit’s leading, ready for whatever new thing He has in store.
