John 10:11, 14
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep… I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own.
John 10:11, 14
Don’t know if you realize this but sheep are probably the most oblivious and dependent animals on earth. They are lost without a shepherd. Jesus describes Himself as the Good Shepherd who lays down His life for the sheep. This powerful image of sacrificial love reminds us of Christ’s ultimate act of humility where He literally did lay down His life at the cross.
How should we react to this incredible example that Jesus sets before us? How we can cultivate humility in our own lives? It’s not possible if there are areas where pride has taken root. That needs to be prayed away and we need to have the Lord show us strongholds of self and pride and be willing to lay them at His feet. Then we can better serve others with a shepherd’s heart. So, pray for the grace to embrace humility and to see others as Christ, our Good Shepherd, sees them.
