John 10:15-16

John 10:15-16

As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.

John 10:15-16

In John chapter 10, Jesus refers to Himself as “the good shepherd,” the one who cares for, watches over, and loves the flock. The Good Shepherd even lays down His life for them. But this was no ordinary flock of sheep, it was made up of needy, wounded, wayward sheep that wandered about aimlessly, desperately needing a shepherd to bring them into the fold. This flock would grow to be bigger than any of those listening to Jesus would have ever thought.

I love it when I’m mentioned in the scriptures when I read about God looking forward into the future, calling my name, and adding me into the flock of God. And not just me but you also, and all who hear His call and respond. We are those here who “He must bring in, who hear the call of His voice and are brought into this one flock of God.”

So, rejoice today knowing that our Good Shepherd has laid down His life and picked it up again to gather us all in as one flock of God.
