John 1:1-5, 14

John 1:1-5, 14

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it… And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:1-5, 14

Today would be a good opportunity to remember that we can know God personally and intimately. The verses in John 1 remind us where we can get that assurance. Jesus is the Word made flesh. When God gives us His Word, He gives us His Son. So, how does this passage reveal God’s desire to be known by us?

Consider how Jesus, as the “word of life,” communicates God’s heart and mind to humanity. This is why it is so important as a believer to know the story of Jesus’ time here on earth as it’s revealed in the Gospels. Jesus said of Himself, “If you’ve seen Me you’ve seen the Father. So the next step is to ask the Holy Spirit to help you move beyond knowing about God to truly knowing Him intimately through Jesus our Savior.
