John 11:33
Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, He groaned in the spirit and was troubled.
John 11:33
Lazarus had just passed away and there was a lot of sorrow and weeping going on. And as Jesus looked around and saw this, we are told that “He groaned in His spirit and was troubled.” Now, Jesus wasn’t sad or troubled for Lazarus who had died. Jesus was hurting for the people around Him who were hurting. Jesus looked at Mary and Martha and those around Him with eyes of compassion. A heart of compassion….and He groaned.
Our God is a God of compassion! That is the heart of God. And that is the heart He is creating in us, a heart of compassion for others. Before I met the Lord, I basically only cared about me. Now that I know the Lord, I find myself caring about others and wanting the best for them. That is Christ in me and Christ in you!
