John 2:18-22

John 2:18-22

So the Jews answered and said to Him, “What sign do You show to us, since You do these things?” Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” Then the Jews said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?” But He was speaking of the temple of His body. Therefore, when He had risen from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this to them; and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had said.

John 2:18-22

In this passage, we are told that the disciples remembered, later, what Jesus had told them about the temple. They didn’t understand what He was telling them at first, but eventually they did. I know that there have been so many times in my life where I have read the word of God, had a conversation with a brother or sister, or listened to the word of God being taught, and it wasn’t until later that the light bulb went on.

“Hey, that’s what God was talking about! That is what God was saying to me!”

David wrote, “Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee.” You know God’s word is powerful! It is alive, and it gets hidden in our hearts when we read and hear it. And at just the right time, God uses it in our lives to direct us, to keep us from sin, and to convict us. It’s alive, and God brings it to our remembrance as we walk with Him.

Let’s keep His word hidden in our hearts!
