Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

John 8:12

Jesus declares Himself to be the light of the world, promising that those who follow Him will never walk in darkness. Have you noticed when it’s dark that the further you walk away from a light source the darker it becomes? So what does it mean to truly follow Jesus in your daily life? Keeping in mind that following isn’t just about believing, but about actively walking in His footsteps.

Today, consciously try to pattern your thoughts, words, and actions after Christ’s example. When faced with decisions, ask yourself, “What would Jesus do?” As you follow more closely, notice how His light dispels the darkness of fear, doubt, and confusion in your life. Thank God for the gift of His Son, our ultimate source of guidance, truth and glorious light.
