John 8:25-26

John 8:25-26

“Then they said to Him, “Who are you?”  And Jesus said to them, “Just what I have been saying to you from the beginning.  I have many things to say and judge concerning you, but He who sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I heard from Him.”

John 8:25-26

Here the Scribes and Pharisees were firing accusing questions at Jesus.  They were in His face and what does Jesus do and say?  Well, He shows us that sometimes there is wisdom in not only in being quick to hear and slow to speak, but in not speaking at all.  In verse 26, Jesus pretty much says, ”There are a lot of things I can and could say about you, but I am only going to speak those things that the Father wants me to!”

I need to remember this verse!  I am not known for being a real talkative, boisterous type, but even I kick myself so many times thinking….”why did I say that?….why didn’t I just keep my mouth shut?”

This is a good reminder, that when we speak only those things that God has given us, spoken to us about and given to us in His word, there is wisdom in that.
