Joshua 24:15

“And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

This is the most familiar verse in the book of Joshua and the last part of it, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” is probably the most popular plaque put up in Christian households. 

We need men who are willing to have this verse as their life verse. Men who are the spiritual leaders of their houses who will proclaim their family will serve the Lord. But not only proclaim, but live this verse out.

As the Children’s Pastor, I’ve seen many families over the year who delegate the spiritual aspects of their lives over to the moms and I’m grateful for the ladies who have taken up that mantle. However, I often wonder where the dads are and why they haven’t taken charge. If that’s you today, pray about the role the Lord has given you and if you’re doing what He requires.
