Luke 15:17-18
When he came to his senses, he said, `How many of my father’s hired men have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.
Luke 15:17-18
The story of the prodigal son is a familiar parable that Jesus told. Jesus wanted to convey to His listeners the heart of the Father when someone is determined to stray. He used this story to show us how much the Father longs to have an unbroken relationship and fellowship with us. But have you ever noticed the father never went after the boy. No matter how long he was gone, the father waited patiently on the porch for his son’s return.
If we have determined to walk away from our Heavenly Father, He, too, waits patiently for us to come to our senses. He lets us get to that point where we figure out life in the Father’s house was much better than being out here on our own. Have you walked away? Turn toward His open arms today and watch Him run to meet you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you… (James 4:8).
