Luke 18:17

Luke 18:17

Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.

Luke 18:17

Jesus characterized a heart that receives salvation to that of a little child. We read in Matthew 18:3 that, “Unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” There is something that makes the gift of salvation more digestible when we approach the throne of grace as a child would. Children have an innocence and trust that is often lost as one grows up. To receive salvation with open arms, one needs to receive it with an emptiness that only comes from one who has nothing to offer.

Think back to who you were and where you were when Jesus found you. Maybe you were at the end of your rope and felt helpless. That is the perfect place to be for Jesus to do His mighty work. When we have nothing to offer. Much like a little child, we can fully embrace the gift of eternal life. We are also in a place of emptiness that can be filled with God’s word and provision. So, as we come to the Father in prayer and in need of saving, let us come as little children; hopeful, trusting, and with nothing to offer other than our hearts. He is our good Father and we are His little children.

God Bless,
