Luke 5:13
Then He put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.”Immediately the leprosy left him.
Luke 5:13
Jesus’ willingness to touch the untouchable leper demonstrates His revolutionary love and compassion. It also is a foreshadowing of what Jesus would do on the cross. Jesus touched the leper before He healed him and, in that moment, made Himself unclean. Jesus took on the leper’s uncleanness the same way He took on our sin. And in the same way that He healed the leper with a word, He also paid for our sins with a word, “It is finished.”
And still today, Jesus is willing to touch the “untouchable” parts of our lives – our shame, our failures, our deepest wounds. So, like the leper we need to be willing to bow humbly before our Savior and open our heart to His loving touch as He makes us whole and complete in Him.
